It was as if Hitler had visited a synagogue.

The butcher of the 1982 Sabra and Shatilla massacre in Lebanon, Ariel Sharon, walked into Masjid Al-Aqsa, Islam's third most holiest site on September 28.

He entered with thousands of heavily armed Israelis. This was resisted by the unarmed Palestinians.

This was the man directly responsible for the massacre of over 2,700 Palestinians. This is also the man behind Israel's 1982 invasion of Lebanon, which claimed as a result of which about 20,000 Palestinians and Lebanese were killed.

"He came bringing with him more Israeli forces than those who accompanied him when he occupied the Aqsa Mosque in 1967" according to Palestine Liberation Organization member Faisal Husseini.

Husseini was also one of hundreds of Palestinians wounded and beaten by Israeli police that day along with an Imam who leads prayers at Masjid Al-Aqsa.

But that was just the tip of the iceberg. On the blessed day of Friday in the blessed city of Jerusalem, when thousands of Palestinians came to pray in the world's third holiest mosque, Israeli military forces and police were lying in wait.

They stormed Al Aqsa, opening fire with powerful bullets on the worshippers, who were throwing stones to defend the Masjid.

As of this writing, over 30 Palestinians are dead, including seven children and hundreds wounded.

One particularly shameful incident involved the death of 12-year-old Muhammad Al-Dura. He was by an Israeli sniper, while his father tried to protect him from the bullets. A Palestinian ambulance driver who tried to rescue Muhammad and his father was also killed by the Israeli sniper.
